Former rugby star Andy Goode announced as new Head of Strategic Sales for moneycorp

Rugby star, Andy Goode, has successfully converted a new career as he joins moneycorp, the currency and international payments specialist. A year after he bid farewell to professional rugby, the former England fly-half joins the company’s senior team as Head of Strategic Sales.

Starting this month, Andy’s new role will see him develop moneycorp’s network of corporate and high net worth clients, as they seek specialist support with international payments and managing foreign exchange risk.

Andy will work with the Corporate International Payments team, led by Managing Director Lee McDarby, and Head of European Business Development, Matthew Crate. In 2016, this area of the business achieved significant growth, thanks to enhancements in its product offerings and increased demand for FX support from businesses tackling sterling volatility following the Brexit vote.

Before joining moneycorp, Andy’s illustrious rugby career spanned 18 years; with highlights including a Premiership title with the Leicester Tigers and 17 caps for England. This has given Andy the opportunity to travel the globe, where he gained an impressive understanding of FX markets.

Following moneycorp’s expansion into Romania, Spain, Gibraltar and the USA in 2016, the business plans to continue with its international expansion this year. In leading the Strategic Sales team, Andy will be pivotal in achieving these goals and mapping new overseas relationships for moneycorp.

Mark Horgan, CEO of moneycorp, said:

“Andy is an exciting addition to moneycorp’s team and brings a wealth of FX knowledge from his time spent working and living overseas. Over the years, Andy has built an impressive network of contacts across the globe, and we look forward to utilising these relationships to achieve our ambitious expansion plans, both overseas, and here in the UK.

“I have no doubt Andy will prove a valuable member of our team and we’re sure his track record on the rugby pitch will translate to further success within moneycorp’s international payments business.”

Andy Goode, Head of Strategic Sales, at moneycorp, said:

“Foreign exchange has always been a keen interest of mine and, when it comes to the specialist sector, moneycorp is one of the biggest players in the game. In my role, I’ll be actively developing relationships with new and existing corporate clients, whilst helping to further raise the business’ profile on a global scale.

“The fast-paced environment of moneycorp is not too far from that of the rugby pitch and, whilst I’ll be continuing with my punditry work and media obligations, during the week I’ll be focusing on a different type of conversion.”
