The Irish Association of Corporate Treasurers is a not-for-profit organisation having charitable status. It currently has in excess of 400 members, including practising treasurers from major Irish public companies, multinationals and commercial state entities, as well as a significant number of smaller and medium sized companies. The Association's aims are to encourage and promote the study and practice of treasury management in Ireland, set guidelines for best practice and act as a forum for treasurers to interact and network with their peers and service providers.
The Association produces a journal four times a year and organises seminars, conferences, training courses and social events for members. In recognition of the importance of education, the Association also runs a one-year, part-time programme for a graduate certificate in corporate treasury in conjunction with Dublin City University. This specialist programme commenced in September 1998 and in each of the last few years has ran at full capacity.
The Association is a member of the European Associations of Corporate Treasurers (http://www.eact.eu/) and the International Group of Treasury Associations (http://www.igta.org/) , each of which was formed to foster better contacts between treasurers and their associations world-wide, work towards a common view of technical matters of interest to treasurers and generally enhance the activities of member associations. Membership of these broader groups is advantageous from the perspective of lobbying to promote best treasury practice.
