As the earlier articles in this Guide illustrate, the current uncertainty in the financial markets has emphasised the need to focus on areas such as liquidity management but also on broader themes of working capital management and the financial supply chain. While treasurers have always been closely involved with ensuring the day-to-day liquidity of the company, their ability to influence the factors which affect working capital and the different elements in the financial supply chain is gradually increasing. In this article, I would like to share my thoughts about how the role of the treasurer is changing and some of the factors which are influencing these trends.
