Banking structure The Deutsche Bundesbank With the establishment of the European Central Bank, the Deutsche Bundesbank including the regional central banks (Landeszentralbanken/LZBs) has become a part of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB). As a result, the role of the Bundesbank has been reduced as responsibility for monetary policy has transferred to the ECB Governing Council.
