The market is still learning about the MA-CUG concept. There is already a clear case for FileAct, where it rationalises the number of comms channels and security routines involved in sending files of payments to multiple banks. But the use of FileAct does not imply a particular data standard in the files themselves. The case for direct interaction with multiple banks based on FIN faces practical barriers, and there will be ongoing focus on whether it is more beneficial to use a ‘Host Bank’ as a gateway to the complexities of FIN, or for the corporate to address those itself.
